Tomato Chutney

Tomato chutney needs no introduction. This recipe is my cousin’s and I fell in love when I ate for the first time. Do give this a try, if you haven’t!

Serves: 2


Pearl Onions: 10-12 nos
Tomato: 2
Coconut: 2 tsp (scraped)
Jeera: ½ tsp
Dhaniya: 1 tsp
Red Chillies: 3-4 nos
Oil: 2 tsp
Salt as required


Keep your pearl onions and tomatoes cleaned and ready. Take a sauté pan, add a tsp of oil. Fry jeera, dhaniya and red chillies until you get a nice aroma and keep it aside. In the same pan add another tsp of oil and fry pearl onions and tomatoes till they become soft and mushy. Switch off the flame. In the same heat, fry the coconut for a couple of minutes. Once cooled add everything with required salt and grind to a smooth paste in a mixie.

Tasty chutney is ready. Enjoy with idlies or dosa!
